Your first quality show dog will most likely be a male, but at whatever time you have your first female and are ready to breed your first litter hoping to have the future champion you have wanted, you will need to decide how to breed her to get the type of dog you want. It's not as simple as it may seem. Hopefully during this time out in the show ring you have made friends with someone that has agreed to act as mentor to you or have developed a close friendship with someone long distance that is going to help guide you. A mentor is not the person always suggesting on the sly to come breed to their dog or come to them to buy their dog. Those are not the ones interested in helping you, only in what is in it for them. Keep looking for that quality mentor as there are some great ones out there, but it will depend on you and the time you give trying to develp that same quality friendship. Friendship works two ways, so don't expect people to have someone constantly give to you of their precious time. Mentoring does not benefit the mentor so they do this trying to help the newcomer learn from their vast years of experience and at the same time save you from some of the heartbreak they encountered a long the way to their own goals. You would be wise to listen closely and learn from it rather than ignore it.
