Yorkshire Terriers are beautiful in the ring watching them go around with their gorgeous gold glistening off their dark blue silk flowing coat. With the high expense of showing now, be sure to watch them in the conformation show ring for some time to be sure this is really the show dogs for you. Below are some of the Yorkshire Terrier champions that created my line. I see no reason to breed except to breed the best. Showing is an expensive hobby but it's also a sport I have enjoyed for over 30 years now. If interested in showing, I highly recommend when going to local shows to meet some local show exhibitors that would be willing to help mentor you. A good mentor will make the difference of success in the ring and your breeding program. This is a very difficult breed to get a great dog in and even though you may know a lot, you will need guidance and help along the way. As you progress you will meet more exhibitors through out the country that will also be willing to help mentor and offer advice. A great mentor is worth their weight in gold.

Yorkshire Terriers are a challenge in the show ring, but the professional handlers are more abundant in the breed also, making it very difficult for owner/handlers to finish their own champions. It's one of the reasons I like people to be real sure they want to get involved with conformation showing since it's a lot of expense, tremendous amounts of time, and even more dedication, yet it is something I think has been worth my years of devotion to them. Yorkie Agility Obedience is another way to show also if you think the conformation ring is not for you. It allows you to obtain AKC Yorkshire Terrier degrees through them and is a lot of fun for both the owners, their kids and the dogs and the rewards of your hard work is very satisfying.

They should have a strong driving rear end assembly. Nice strong steps which allows them to cover some ground, not little mincing steps which hinders them moving out properly. They should move with nice strong movement straight underneath the body.
They should have a nice reaching front and as they move the front end will gravitate closer together the faster they go. You don't want a front too wide, but you also don't want a front that the legs are crossing over one another as they move. They should toe out slightly which gives them their digging ability, but is a small amount and not noticeable unless looking for this quality.
There's no easy formula for what is right for the unknowing eye, because the package has to fit together with the rest of the dog. It's something that you hopefully develop an eye for over time. This is the balance of the dog and without the proper balance, the rest doesn't work well anyway. Balance is the sum total of the dog and whether each part of the body works in balance with the rest of the dog.
